Puberty Lessons

Mr. Rogers - 01 Jul 2026

PSHE Puberty Sessions

DATE 01/07/26

Dear Parents and Carers

In Year 4, we will be introducing Personal Hygiene and Puberty to the children through our PSHE lessons.  We will do this in the final week of term. DfE guidance states that it is important to introduce all pupils to the concept of puberty before they are likely to experience it.

We will give a gentle introduction to the following areas:

Changes in girls and boys

Personal Hygiene

Menstruation

Feelings and Emotions

We will use the following videos with the children.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXrQ_FhZmos

We have included the links here so you can watch them at home.

We will not be addressing how eggs are fertilised, as that is covered in Year 6, any questions on this particular area can be answered at home.

After watching the video, if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child's participation in the RSE lesson on conception, please complete this Google Form by Wednesday, 8th July 2026 to arrange a conversation with Mrs Nairne. If we do not receive a completed form by this date, we will assume that you are happy for your child to take part in the lesson.

If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to discuss any aspect of the programme, please do not hesitate to speak with your child’s class teacher. We are always happy to help and support you.

Kind regards,

The Year 4 team
