Dates to remember
01 Feb 2013
Dear Parents/Carer, 30TH January 2013
We hope you’re enjoying the year so far. Thank you for all the hard work that went into the ‘famous person’ presentations. They were superb! We will put them on the website once everyone has presented their work. We have lots of exciting things planned in the coming weeks. Here are a couple of dates to keep in mind:
Tuesday 12th February 2013 – European ‘WOW’ day. Children to come dressed as a favourite character from any traditional story originating from Europe e.g.. Hansel and Gretel, Rumplestiltskin (Germany), Jack and the Beanstalk, Dick Whittington (England), The Enormous Turnip (Russian), Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (French), East of the Sun, West of the Moon (Norway). Or children could come dressed to represent a chosen European country. Children can also bring in a dish from their chosen country which we will in enjoy in the afternoon at our European party. We will learn languages, songs , flags and customs from these countries throughout the day. If anyone would like to share their expertise in this area with us we would gladly welcome you for the day!
Friday 15th February – Year 2 Class assembly. The children will be showing work we have been doing over the last few weeks. It will start at 9.00 am and last about 30mins. Everybody is welcome to attend.
Friday 1st March – Trip to Barleylands Farm to see the new baby animals. We will need a couple of volunteers for the trip. If you would like to come please give your name to your class teacher. We will pick out of a hat once all names have been collected.
New writing project – We will shortly be sending home a new writing pack for children to plan and write a story at home. Your child’s old story will also be in the pack with feedback on things that were done very well and tips to focus on for the next project. The new story should be a traditional fairy tale and the children can make up their own title. Some features of a traditional fairy tale include things happening in threes, repetitive language, a villain and a happily ever after. The story will be due in the second week back after half term.
We hope you have a happy, healthy and fun spring term.
Best wishes,
Miss Dale, Mrs Gresham and Mrs Dodd.
