Writing
Have a look at your ‘How to improve my writing’ booklet
Choose words from your lists eg. Adverb, adjective, emotion, connective. Now write a creative sentence using these words.
Create interesting sentences and paragraphs describing characters, settings and events in detail. Make sure you open your sentences with lots of different words (adverbs, adjetcives, verbs etc.)
Practice using some speech marks and other punctuation marks.
Practice using text connectives like: because, who, which, when, where, if, as, however, therefore (as practiced in class last week)
If you would like Ms Adcock to check your work, bring it into school, and you will earn a sticker.

Numeracy
Mental maths assessment Friday
Every week you need to practice your timestables and division facts for all 12 tables.
Eg. 6 X 7 = 42, 7 X 6 = 42, 42 ÷ 6 = 7, 42 ÷ 7 = 6.
Focus on those you find most difficult (6, 7 and 8 X are usually the trickiest!).
Write down the division facts in order. Learn them.
Now you can write them down in random order. Answer them as quick as possible. Ask someone in the family to test you. You can also play games to help you to learn them. Eg. Write the multiples of 6 on cards. Now write down the division facts on some cards. Shuffle the cards. See if you can match the cards as quick as you can.

Geography
Collect some pamphlets / information about Coastlines. Research a beach you have been to so you can tell our class about it. Do you have any photos?
Use books and/or the internet to answer these key questions:
How do coastlines change?
What effect do people have on coastlines?
What kinds of animals and plants live on coastlines?
How do coastlines differ?
What environmental issues affect coastlines?

Whole School Project
As well as supporting Team Great Britain at this year's Olympic Games, we are also supporting Australia; and Spain in the Paralympics. Do some research on one or both of these countries and bring in your findings / any interesting things that could be used for our whole school display - which will be seen by other schools as well.
Well done to those children who have already brought some in! We are starting to get a good collection going :) |
